30 Idle Foriegn Vessels on Lay-up

(Tied together in rest)

Members of 1104th Provincial Mobile Group in Malalag Davao del Sur continues with its daily seaborne patrol and inspection.  This after the Marina has expressed concern over the security of at least thirty cargo vessels, which have been placed on lay-up by their operators at the port in Malalag, Davao del Sur Since January 2009. Authorites said, the idle cargo vessels have been docked due  to global financial crisis. The low lay-up fees at the port have been the reason why international shipping companies preferred to dock their idle vessels here over similar facilities in other Asian countries which has higher port dues.  The PNP is also concerned on the increasing number of tourists visiting the area especially at night when all the cargo vessels are lighted.
